Announcing the release of S-Drill 1.2


S-Drill 1.2 now includes Casing Design functionality and is fully translated into Spanish and Russian.

The Casing Seat Selector allows calculation of appropriate Casing Shoe depths in the context of Geological Formations and Pore and Fracture pressure according to Trip Margin, Kick Margin, Maximum Overbalance etc.

A Volumetric Kick Tolerance calculation can be performed on each hole section.


The interactive plot allows casing shoes to be manually placed in MD or TVD with all parameters recalculated accordingly.


Hole and Casing diameters are calculated using a library of standard API casings

Casing Stress Analysis

S-Drill's Casing Design Software performs stress analysis according to API 5C3 / ISO 10400 methods. Uniaxial, Bi-Axial and Tri-Axial stress analysis is performed for casing tubing and connections.


User defined design factors for both Tubing and Connections can be specified.


S-Drill's Load Case constructor allows the user to create custom load cases using associated well data that can be stored in a catalogue for re-use. S-Drill comes with a set of example load cases.

Include the effect of drag in Installation Load Cases.


The stress analysis takes into account deration of wall thickness and can include casing wear.


The inbuilt temperature models allow for thermal yield strength reduction and calculation of thermal loads.


Full results for each load cases are shown in tabular form, 3D view and in fully customisable charts. A summary Bi-Axial Envelope and Von Mises Ellipse with all loads is displayed for each tubing type along with minimum safety factors. A summary report is available in .pdf format.

Sour Service Selector

Select the appropriate casing materials for sour gas wells using the Sour Service selector. Partial Pressure of H2S and CO2 is calculated for each load case and results plotted against the NACE sour service regions.

Minimum Cost Design

The minimum cost design functionality plots the worst case load against Axial, Burst, Collapse and Tri-Axial limits for casings of varying Grade or Weight and the minimum requirement is selected for each depth.

Centraliser Placement

S-Drill's Casing Design Module includes a Centraliser Placement calculator and casing stand-off is calculated as part of the analysis.
